Listening to secular music, isn’t always a terrible thing. There are some good songs out there, by secular artist. The thing Christians should be cautious of, is the meanings behind the artists songs. Especially rap, a lot of the lyrics are perverted. Yea, the song might have a good beet to it, but the lyrics are just gross. Even songs that are more soft rock have hidden meanings. Here are some lyrics from the song by Nickleback called “If Everyone Cared”.
“If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we’d see the day when nobody died”
This is relating to death in in itself, and there is no hope for salvation in this song. It’s talking about how if everyone loved, and nobody lied, and everybody tried to do right, nobody would die. Basically what it’s saying is if everyone tries to do the right thing, you’l live a good life. For people out there in this world, who think there is no hope or future hope after death of eternal life, it can be a scary thing. I hope I haven’t lost you, but basically I’m just trying to warn and to caution you to be careful of songs that might have a good beet to them, make sure there don’t have hidden meanings.
